Why do you assume women stayed home and gathered while the men went out and hunted? New studies find that women were just as involved in the hunt as the men were. Here's a quote from NPR:
"Women had their own toolkit. They had favorite weapons. Grandmas were the best hunters of the village.".... "the majority of cultures for whom hunting is important train their girls and their women to make their tools and go hunting,"
So, if men are behaving badly it's because they were, and are, jealous of Grandma's cool bow and arrows and of her stick with a big rock thingy attached.
As a side note. I don't think all men are idiots. Just the ones who don't listen to their mothers.
